Nothing beats a Cardinals win. But if you’re eating right before (or after), the right meal makes the whole experience.
Downtown St. Louis has no shortage of options in the blocks around Busch Stadium, from quick bites to sit-down spots worth building your whole game day around. Here’s a practical guide to the best places to eat near Busch Stadium, including what to order, when to show up, and how to skip the rush.

Start Here: Salt + Smoke at Ballpark Village
If you’re serious about game day food, Salt + Smoke’s Ballpark Village location is where you should head. We’re right inside Ballpark Village, steps from the stadium gates, serving the same award-winning St. Louis BBQ you’d get at any of our six locations across the metro.
What to order:
- Brisket: Prime beef smoked over post oak for 14–18 hours. Get it fatty, lean, or Burnt Ends.
- St. Louis-Style Ribs: Cherry wood-smoked, fall-off-the-bone, and the sauce situation is unmatched. Six house sauces, each completely different.
- Burnt End T-Ravs: Handmade ravioli stuffed with burnt ends, breaded and deep-fried. This is the dish Michael Symon put on Food Network. Don’t skip it.
- Popovers: Airy cheddar and bacon muffins that come with your platter. We promise, these will convert you.
We’re open Sunday–Thursday 11am–9pm and Friday–Saturday 11am–10pm, which means you can eat before the game, after the game, or duck in during a rain delay. Happy hour runs Monday–Friday, 3–6pm — $2 off select apps and drafts.
For groups of 20 or more, catering is available with 48 hours’ notice, which is perfect for pregame tailgate setups or private event spaces near the stadium.

Other Good Options Near Busch Stadium
We know you want the full picture, so here’s an honest rundown of what else is worth your time in the area:
Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria (Ballpark Village)
Award-winning Italian right inside BPV. If someone in your group isn’t a BBQ person, this is where to send them. The pizza is legit.
Condado Tacos (Ballpark Village)
Build-your-own tacos, solid margaritas, and fast enough to get in and out before first pitch. Good call for groups that can’t agree on anything.
The Clydesdale (Ballpark Village)
Elevated bar food and craft cocktails. Less “sports bar,” more “sit down and actually enjoy your drink.” Great spot for post-game wind-down.
Pappy’s Smokehouse (Midtown — 15 min away)
A St. Louis BBQ institution. Worth the trip if you’re heading in early and don’t mind the drive, though for game day convenience, we’d obviously send you to Ballpark Village first.
Inside Busch Stadium
The stadium itself has concessions covered, and its 2026 food menu includes the usual ballpark staples. Fine for an in-game snack, but not the reason to plan a meal around.
Timing Tips
Before the game: Arrive at Ballpark Village 90 minutes before first pitch. You’ll get a table, eat without rushing, and walk into the stadium relaxed instead of hangry. On high-attendance games (Opening Day, postseason, rivalry series), add another 30 minutes.
After the game: The area clears faster than you’d think, especially if the Cardinals win and everyone stays for the walk-off. Post-game is actually a great time to grab a seat, debrief the game, and avoid the parking crush.
Happy hour window: If you can get downtown by 3pm on a weekday game, Salt + Smoke’s happy hour (3–6pm, Mon–Fri) is the best deal in the stadium district.
Planning a Group Trip?
If you’re coming with a larger crew (work outing, bachelor/bachelorette, birthday group, or just a big family doing a Cardinals weekend) Salt + Smoke’s private event spaces and catering packages are built for exactly this. We’ve done everything from pregame tailgate setups to full private room buyouts near the stadium.
